Something about me.
I am a strategist, builder, and deeply committed community member who works at the intersection of business strategy, human systems, and societal change. I am known as a methodologist and creative who leads strategic planning, complex research and evaluation investments, and culture and brand transformations. I work in boardrooms, formal proceedings, and high-stakes stakeholder environments on some days, and on other days you’ll find me in the less formal contexts where trust, ideas, and momentum are built.
My proudest professional achievement is co-founding ILLUME Advising, a 50-person energy consultancy I built alongside my longtime co-conspirator, Sara Conzemius. Together, we fundamentally shifted how the energy sector tackles policy and technology change. Our work pioneered human-centered approaches that fused rigorous research, strategic insight, and deep community engagement to drive regulatory, market, and technical solutions. We did this while intentionally building a company recognized for its culture as much as its impact.
Most recently, I serve as Chief Strategy Officer at E Source, the company that acquired ILLUME. At E Source, I support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, including the development of a strategic AI-enabled initiative, merger and acquisition activity, and organizational design.
I believe that all work can improve our communities no matter the organization—for-profit, non-profit, or governmental. With ingenuity, creative strategy, and grit, we can address multiple bottom lines.
I grew up in a community living with economic upheaval and persistent poverty, where the real work of change often happened quietly. I watched educators, social workers, and advocates step in where policy and industry fell short, demonstrating leadership grounded in care, proximity, and persistence. Their example shaped my worldview and anchored my lifelong commitment to witnessing and positively impacting the human outcomes of institutional decisions.
I have delivered countless papers, talks, trainings, and keynotes across the United States, as well as a few in Europe and Asia.
I serve as a Director for Groundswell Capital, Arizona’s Green Bank, a Presidential Advisor to the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, and a Director and Executive Committee Member to the Arizona Technology Council.
I hold a master’s degree in the social sciences from the University of Chicago.
